Our mentoring programs provide a stable role-model for your child. A Big Brother or a Big Sister is someone your child can look up to. A Big is someone your child can spend time with when he or she needs another positive adult figure in his or her life. A Big Brother or Big Sister is a source of encouragement and motivation to reach life-goals and dreams.

Big Brothers Big Sisters matches children primarily between the ages of six and fourteen. Our Big Brothers and Big Sisters are special friends who help children in setting goals, problem-solving, communication skills and making good choices.

Our organization encourages volunteers to meet regularly with their Little Brother or Little Sister for a minimum of one year (nine months for college students). Together Bigs and Littles share everyday activities they both enjoy. The most important aspect of a match is spending quality time together.

Volunteer Screening Process
Big Brothers and Big Sisters are carefully screened members of our community. We focus on the quality and integrity of our volunteers by:

• Interviewing candidates
• Contacting at least three references
• Conducting a home assessment
• Running a criminal background check

Enroll Your “Little” in Two Easy Steps

• Step 1
  Call 321-5437 to complete several preliminary questions.
   

• Step 2
  An application will be mailed to you. Complete the application and attach a current photograph of your child for our files. Return the application as soon as possible. Once your application is received a caseworker will contact you to arrange for an interview.
